I just finished replacing the roof side panel weather stripping. That's the piece of rubber that runs along the side of the roof, where the window stops when you roll it up. If you haven't done it yet, it's not as easy as it appears. It's not difficult to do, but it takes a lot of time, because the only way to remove the old weather stripping is to cut it and pull it out bit by bit. Then you have to clean the old adhesive out of the channels so that the new adhesive will hold. I used everything from a Dremel Tool with a wire brush attachment, to a bent piece of wire to get the old adhesive out. If you're planning to do this task, give yourself plenty of time.

Would a chemical like "GooGone" have helped?
Saturate a toothbrush or something to be able to soak well in there?

Just a late late night pondering (I had a gig in Destin, FL tonight. Grand re-opening of a Krispy Kreme doughnut shop) HAHA!
hey, it paid pretty good for a 3 hr show -

done it two weeks ago

I did it also two weeks ago. Found that saturating stripping with 3M adhesive remover helped alot. Stock stripping had a ton of adhesive on it. When I reinstalled I only glues the front and back down, the sides fit pretty snug in the channel, If I have to reinstall later it should be a snap.

I gig too. Play in a 50's - 60's cover band. Money goes into the Money Pit (Vette). I wouldn't use anything that might affect the paint on the roof. You can remove the brackets that hold the weather stripping in place and do anything to the brackets, I suppose, but then you'd have to put them back in place and make sure that they're re-installed in exactly the place that they had been before. I didn't want to take the chance of having them out of allignment, so I chose to leave the brackets on the roof and scrape the weather stripping and adhesive out.
