I am going to replace the battery in my 2000 C5 tomorrow. I know I will need to re-learn the key fobbs. I also saw that I will need to reprogram the Learned Idle Position. I have the shop manual for the car. In volume #2, page 6-1057 step #2 is and I quote......"Restore the PCM battery feed"......does this mean to turn the ignition on? Just want to make sure........hey I'm a 70's car guy (72 442).....I need to be retrained..at least I think I'm still trainable..........need to learn GM's modern language........"restore the PCM battery feed".......jees........why not just "turn ignition on".........I guess it's not technical enough..........

Hi there,
For your transmitters, simply hold the lock and unlock for 6-16 seconds on each transmitter, and you will hear the horn chirp. This means they are working.
As for you idle, do not worry about it. 15 mins of street/city driving, and the computer will adjust.

I was looking through the Tech. forum on C5fourm this morning and found a posting about the C5 Idle Relearn procedure and this one is talking about having to remove the 10amp fuses from postion # 16 & 23 during the process.........whats the deal with that?........have not had a chance to take mine out yet since I changed the battery late yesterday.....your process seems so easy and the one in the shop manual & this one on C5fourm are so much more involved............why such a difference?........is there a reason for all the steps in the other processes? Sorry, not questioning your expertise.....just trying to understand the differences and what the techinical reasons are for the other steps.........thanks........

When I replaced my battery, I got a 9 volt battery and the cigarette lighter connection and plugged the 9 volt into the cigarette lighter. Kept my radio stations, seat positions, everything. No muss no fuss.

Hi there,
The owner has been made aware that this is incorrect.
