I looking to restore the Bose sound system to my 1986 Corvette. I've purchased all of the componants, can anyone give me some tips on the actual installation process.

What do you mean by "restore"? Do you mean you are returning to the stock stereo after an aftermarket installation, or you are restoring the bose system that is already in there? What components did you purchase?thom43 said:I looking to restore the Bose sound system to my 1986 Corvette. All right, first of all you should keep your fingers crossed that the previous owner didn't cut any of the original wiring. If he didn't, then everything is pretty much plug-and-play. Did your car originally come with a Bose stereo? If so, you will have a code UU8 under the center console door, as well as speakers in the doors. Look under the rear speakers, and if you see a pigtail connector with four (I think it's four) wires coming out of it, then the back is fine, they didn't cut anything. If you remove the old stereo HU in the dash and look inside, you should see a big 9-pin connector and a smaller connector with two wires, one brown and one orange. If all the stock wiring is intact, I can email you a schematic from my 1989 manual, which should be the same. As you know, the amps are located inside the speaker boxes.thom43 said:I'm returning to the stock radio after the previous owner had an aftermarket unit installed. I've purchased a used radio which I had checked out at a auto radio repair shop, everything work's fine. I also have the entire set of speakers(4).
I'd like to get the schematic for the speaker amp's but haven't had much luck.
It's not that difficult really, if you follow the steps in the site that you posted above. It's a little difficult to plug in the connector for the door speakers, as it is tucked under there pretty far, but with patience it will go right in. And it goes without saying that you should test the speakers before putting the door panel back together.thom43 said:I removed one of the rear speaker grill's(Bose) and I could see a four pin connector that looks like it will mate with the connector on the rear speakers I have, so if this was the installers SOP then I might be in luck. The RPO code UU8 is listed under the console door. The big downside to this project is having to replace the door speakers.
