Firestone Indy 500 tires are the way to go (255-60-15). Just put them on my '81 and they look good and handle really well. Bought them from tirerack and had them installed locally. You can read the reviews at their website - www.tirerack.com

HOLD THE PRESS...I used BF Goodrich for the longest time (good tire).
NOW Firestone Indy 500. With out a doubt, these tires are much nicer.

I have Goodyear Eagle ST's on the 71. So far no complaints considering the car is 34 yrs old...tracks and handles well and the wear seems pretty good too. I dont drive in the rain...caught once and with an old big block the car is a bit skittish. On a nice day its always nice to let it rip occasionally.:lou

Couldn't agree more. Mine had new GoodYear GT+4's on it when I bought it, but they were loud with terrible handling. I've always been a Goodyear man, and was really nervous about putting Firestone's on....but they're an awesome tire, and look great too! I'm very happy with them.

I had t-tops in an '88 two-seater sports car (not a Vette so I'm embarrassed to name it). Drove it for 14 years and 148,000 miles. Never bothered once. About the tires, my '85 Vette has Kumho on the ground, and I have been very pleased in every respect.

My 81 came new with GoodYear GT's, they lasted a litle over 58K miles and had good handling on wet or dry payment. Next had BFG's, got 32K; Currently have Kelly Charger SR 255 60R15, 102S and have over 36K and remaining tread depth should yield another 10K minimum. The Kelly's also have very good handling on wet & dry roads.
