I want to restore/ refurbish my convertible top frame on my '66. Can the fabric be removed from the supporting cross supports without damaging the fabric? If so how do you remove it? Secondly what is the correct black paint after sanding? Thanks, in advance for your comments.

i have done several tops on c1 and c2 in my opinion you will never get it off without damage never mind getting it back on the same way it was .you could look up ncrs for the correct paint I just do them on semi -gloss:upthumbs steve

restoring conv. top

Before you take the frame out of the car to sand and paint it. Be sure to mark with a pencil exactly where the frame bolt is now. It will make it a lot easier to get the frame back in the right place to get a good snug air tight fit when you put the top back on. I used Rustoleum semi gloss on mine.
