reverse pop

Greetings all. Just recently purchased a 98 coupe, 6 speed with 70k on the odometer. When backing up a slight incline many times the reverse pops out of gear. If I put a slight pressure on the gear shifter it will stay in. All forward gears seem to be fine, no unusual noise, etc. Any words of wisdom? Hope its linkage not gear related.

Hi there,
First thing is first, a shifter adjustment. Then, if you still have a concern, the transmission may have to come apart to check for the reverse syncronizer that is worn.
