Ride Control problem

After having my 95 for about a month, the "service ride control" trouble light has come on and won't go out. I have reviewed the owners manual and I think I'm doing everything right. The selector knob is not resting between settings, and once I start the engine, I get underway in less than 1 minute.
I hope this is an easy fix and not something expensive. Any help is certainly appreciated. Also, on my 85, I could short out the ANDL connector and suck the trouble codes out of the memory. Can I do the same on my 95.

You can get the SRC codes by grounding terms #4 to #3.

Problem is most likely with shock actuators. When you get the codes, post them & we can figure out which is bad.

Also go to c4vettes. com

It will show you the DLC for your 95. (16
pin).

OK, I jumpered #4 & 12 of the computer plug on my 95. It showed module 1 having a trouble code "C12". All the other modules just showed the 3 dashes.

Now what??????

A 12 code means 'system alright' It has more codes than a 12 in it and needs a scan tool hook up.

Is there more to the ride control than the switch on the console and the actuators on top of the shocks?? In other words (worst case scenerio) if I replace all 4 shocks and the actuators, will the damn light go out. Right now, I can confirm that the left front shock gear (the little metal gear on top of the shock) is badly chipped, and the nylon gear inside the actuator is totally broken. Does this mean that these components need to be replaced before I have any hope of the light going out??
Thanks for any advice you can give me.
ps: Can the little gear on top of the shock be replaced by itself, or do I need to replace the entire shock.

Alan, Until the shock actuators gears are repaired you will have a light. The system runs a check & cycles thru the various settings on startup. I'm sure you can replace the gears without replacing the shock. Somebody suggested covering the light in the DIC with tape or something.
I'd give it a try.

You can remove all the hardware, but the light will still be on (if bulb is present)

Bilstein will rebuild your shocks for a decent price, cheaper than buying new ones for 199. The actuators are a little harder to come by. You can find them used for around 100-125.

Shocks are broken down to 89-91 and 92-95. Actuators are the same regardless of year.

Thanks for the info. One last thing. Does the shock gear or actuator have to be in some special alignment when you put them together, or do you just pop it on and clip it down.
Wouldn't happen to know of a source for these little gears would you???
