I noticed when my tank is around 1/4 full my car will tend to starve for fuel on a hard right turn (like a turnpike exit when laying into a corner). this only happends when the tank is at 1/4 and only on a right turn... any ideas? Not really a large problem but this summer I had plans to hit the SCCA track and can't see running the entire course for the day on a full tank... anyone with knowledge about this item and how to fix it??

A few months ago there was a guy on a different c4 group I'm a member of who had the same problem. I think his cars an 87.

In the end he found that the baffles in his gas tank had come loose so the gas would go to one side in a turn and would not be by the pump and the pickup.

The C4 does not like hard corning with low fuel. This is common. Before you try autocrossing, put at least half a tank of gas in it. Otherwise, it will lay down during or just after a hard turn - either way.

I had an 85 and, while I didn't have the particular problem you describe, I found it would stumble when the gas gauge got low. I replaced the fuel pump a few times with cheap AutoZone, Pep Boys, etc. and still experienced the problem. I then went directly to the dealer and bought an A-C Delco. Problem solved!!! Also, if you still have the little rubber snubber between the pump and steel line, replace it with a piece of fuel line and clamp it in place. This is assuming that you're going to do the job yourself, which can be done in less than 1 hr. Good luck

You never mentioned how many miles you have on this pump. Obviously, high mileage results in worn parts.

84 bogging out

I have the same exact problem with my 84 vette. When i take a corner and get on the gas when my tank is at a quarter or below the car wants to stall if i don't let up on the gas right away. I was thinking it could possibly be that theres dirt in the bottom of the tank and that my fuel filter needs to be replaced. Not too sure though.. Thats what my guess is and what i am going to try before doing a fuel pump.

I just started autox and ran my first event w/ 1/4 tank to cut weight. BIG MISTAKE. The guys/gals at autox say all the c4's do that. Left tun & right turn no matter. Fill it up or start doing racing mods to the fuel pump & pickup & tank.

I also have a 84 with the same problem. I was told that this is caused by poor designing. I believe we can upgrade to a better quality fuel pump.
