Rim offset question

I'm in the process of purchasing some Z06 chrome wheels at a very good price. The problem is the offset is at +50mm. My car has I believe a 58mm off set. Is this enough of a difference that I should be concerned. I want as natural look as possible. Don’t really want the wheel too far inside our sticking out.

I went through a lot of the offset thread but didn't really come up with an answer. I have a 96 vette with the Z51 package so 17 inch 9.5's on all four corners. Also the new rim will be 18’s.

Will these work or is this something to be concerned about?

The 96 offset is 56mm for the 9.5" wheel. The Grand Sport's 11" wheel had 50mm offset and it fits neatly within the fenderwell at the rear.

With a 50mm offset, the new wheels would sit just slight more to the outside of the car but 6mm is hardly noticable.

Depending on the width of the new wheels, this offset may be just fine.

That's what I was wondering. Dosen't sound like a huge issue. The new rims are also 9.5's so that won't change.

Thanks,

Ok rims are ordered as the difference is minor. I though I would ask in this same post what size tire should I mount on these 18 inch rims. I was looking at 265/35/18 but I don't know if that will work on the front. Actually I need to learn a lot about these tire sizes and what each number means.

MCNE,

After you get the tires/wheels mounted please post some pictures. I have a black on black 96, too and I'm thinking about switching to Chrome A Molds.

Thanks,
Don
