Now, Hib, I know you didn't take me out with you to test that Supercharged vert, so who was the CAC Staff person went with? Yes, I'm extremely jealous. :L
Very nice write up! Now, if only the C5 had been black instead of yellow.
Great write-up Hib. I'll bet the information gathering was some of the most strenuous you've ever done
The aftermarket hood just doesn't do it for me though......ruins the lines. Sitting in the driver's seat gazing out over the stock hood is a very sensual view......one I'd never alter. I boosted my power/torque through the normally aspirated route to keep that view.
I can't imagine that the extra belt drive is not an efficiency loss. I understand folding it, but maybe a folded gearing would cause less friction and loss.

But after sitting behind the wheel of a car with a Caraveggio blower hood, I have to admit that it has the same effect... just different.
The picture in the article disturbs me for another reason though. Look how the hood doesn't follow the line of the facia in the center. Is this unique to the CF units (the Caraveggio hoods I have seen were the composites)? For the money, I would expect better (i.e., OEM fit).
Great article though - makes me want to go out and install a maggie tomorrow!
Well I definitely know who not to race if I see a raised hood like that. Great article Hib, I have been a fan of all your articles here. I know, its a dirty job going for rides like that. You can tell the owner is not a vegitarian.
If you prefer the stock look which will make your adversaries none the wiser.
I have a ProCharger P1SC system under a stock hood. I also added headers, hi-flo cats and an x-pipe and dyno'd 500 at the rear wheels on a hot day.
I also added a consistent 30-33 mpg from 28-30 mpg with this system. One caveat, if the long skinny pedal spends gobs of time on the floor then gas mileage is an afterthought.
Around town and highway driving the car behaves as stock. Push the skinny pedal to the floor and power is instantaneous. You reeeeeealy have to be light on the gas out of first. Even mild shifting, not speed shifting, into second will put the rear end into the right lane. Third gear is a grin producing wag of the tail and rear view mirror viewing of your competitor.
