rocker stud

I need to install a rocker stud on a 1981 rt head. Can I reinstall a press in type stud or should I drill and tap and install a screw in type? Also whats the stud size 3/8 or 7/16? thanks

The GM replacement press-in studs are .003" oversize, and you must ream the hole oversize with a special reamer to accept it or you can crack the stud boss. Or, you can tap the existing hole 7/16" and use a hexless replacement threaded stud - Pioneer has them.
