Does the 96 LT4 have 12 inch or 13 inch rotors? Anyone upgrade to the premium or sport rotors?

My rotors can't be turned so new ones are a must now..

?

I dont know what size my stock rotors are. was looking at 13 inch all around but dont know if they will work. VBP has the sport HD rotors and non HD, so does Ecklers. If I have to switch out rims in order to use the 13 inch then I will go with the 12 inch. Wnted to upgrade calipers, rotors and rims to c-5 style but to exspensive right now.

The front rotors are 13 inches, and the rear are 12 inches. There are several kits availbe that include upgraded front brakes, and you can use your stock 13 inch brakes in the rear.

You are refering to the J55 option? Is this the same as Grand sports and collectors editions? I ask because the ones I got say they are HD and 13 inch but not for the Grand sport or collectors edition. What size do the grand sport and collectors edition have?

I thought all 95-96 cars had 13" HD front rotors and calipers to match. These came from the ZR1's.

Am I wrong?

Yes, all LT4 cars came with the J55 heavy duty brakes option. The calipers on the GS's are a little diffrent due to the "CORVETTE" on the front pair, but they are still the J55 brakes. The rear brakes should be the same though.

Non J55 cars (LT1's) came with 12 inch rotors on all four corners.

Rotors

I am new to this site but I agree Sothpaw all 95 have the 13 rotors.
"1995 marked the end of the ZR-1 production run. The ZR-1's larger brakes, were made standard for all models." is this statement true?

The Z07 option had 13" front rotors from MYs 1991 through 1994, then in MYs 1995 and 1996 they all recieved 13" rotors.
I had a 1993 Z07 and the front rotors looked huge through the wheels.

Yes, 95 and 96 all came with 13" brakes up front.

I bought a 13" setup for my 92, and what a difference it makes!!!! (ok, I also put on cross drilled rotors at the same time) I had to relearn how to brake. I was stopping 1 1/2 car lenghts short at stop lights.

Yes they do look big through the wheels.

The GS and CE brakes use the same caliper, but are painted black and say Corvette on them.

FYI, in case anyone is curious, the 12" and 13" systems use basically the same girtling/PBR caliper. The only difference is that the one for the 13" system is wider to allow for the wider disk. (13" disks are wider than 12" ones)

Do those drilled rotors last longer than the regular rotors?

Wamp,

What kind of pads are you going with?

Don't know. I have not been through a life expectancy of any rotor. They seem to be doing well.

And no, they don't have any crackes.
FYI Mercedes uses cross drilled from the factory, so they can not be as bad as a lot of people say.

I am still using factory pads....I am open to suggestions in that area.
