C5N-Till the C6

Guest
Hello ,
Recently I upgraded my front rotors to the bear 2 piece rotors due to excessive surging during stoping. I love the look and performance of the rotors, but after only 2500 miles I'm beging to feal the same surging coming back . could these rotors be worped allready? or could this be coming from the rear(hav'nt replaced them yet)? Is this a cronic problem on the C5's? My normal comute includes 3 miles of down hill driveing in the morning at the beging of the drive , could this be causing the problem?

Thanx for any info you can give.

Make sure your lug nuts are properly torqued in a star pattern with 25ft-lb increments to 100 ft-lbs. Overtightening can cause the rotors to warp. Usually, this happens after 6000-7000 miles, but maybe something else is going on to cause it to happen to you after only 2500 miles.

new rotors

There is a absolute with new corvette rotors for the first 500 miles of driving. Absolutely no high speed breaking! You will warp the rotors in the front.

I bought a 1999 C5 Conv in 2000 with 8,000 miles on it. At 25,000 miles, the surging happened. I replaced them with actual GM rotors and pads all around. At 48,000 miles, I could feel it starting all over again.

I thought the next time I'll put on aftermarket, but now I don't know.
