I have a 94' and after I purchased it I noticed a slight grinding noise, well you guessed it :mad the turkey I bought it from let them get so bad at least on the drivers side that I'm going to have to replace them, can someone give me an Idea of what I can expect to spend per rotor? ;shrug

thanks

Check the MidAmerica catalog for stock rotor replacements. They have about the best prices you can find - unless you have a sweetheart deal with a local dealer, you probably will not beat the MidAmerica price.

rotors

I just put the slotted rotors on my 96, think I got them from fparts.com. They ad on Ebay alot. They are pretty sweet, car stops alot quicker now.

Hey caddy - unless your 94 is a Z07 car, it should have the 'small' 12" front brake rotors. It's hard to find high performance rotors for the 12" brakes and it's expensive to convert to the 13" rotors.

So if you're trying to save money and get new rotors, the factory rotors are probably the way to go.

Auto Speciality has the cross drilled rotors for both the 12 and 13 inch rotors there about 100 bucks a piece.. they also have slotted but not for the 12' fronts.. I am running the cross drilled and I love em' much better stoping power.. that and I also upgraded to SS brake hoses..

I have bought new GM 13" rotors from GMParts Direct ( http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/ ) and they were just over half the Chevrolet list price. They came UPS pretty fast and I have been very happy with them. If you know the part number, you can check quickly enough, but theu also have a parts list to pick them from. They are also pretty good people to work with customer service-wise. Tim

I have used the cheapie replacement rotors from the local parts stores like AutoZone or Shucks. You can get the 12" rotors for under $40 each and they usually come with a lifetime warranty. A couple of track days or a couple of months of autocross and you take them back and ask why these brand new rotors are trash after only a few months of driving and you want them replaced for free under the lifetime warranty!

One caution about drilled rotors. If you are going to do open track events where you will encounter lots of very heavy brake use, stay away from them. Rotors that are drilled after being cast are prone to cracking and they will fail. Some rotors will have the holes done in the casting process and will be somewhat better. Street and low speed autocross will be OK.

Here's a link to some good deals on brake parts and upgrades:
http://www.superchevyperformance.com/misc/gsbrakes.asp The only caveat with these prices is that it was set up for members of Corvette Forum. Or, you can go to their own forum at
http://www.superchevyperformance.com/private-cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi
Once you register there, you should get the same good pricing discounts. Call the toll-free number and ask for Chris May.

GMPartsDirect has some very good prices, but the shipping charges can eat up the discounts and you can wind up paying as much as list from a GM dealer.

I just replaced the front rotors on my92. These are the 12" rotors. I bought slotted + cross drilled from NAPA for $95ea. They are actually Raybestos BruteStop rotors. Just go to NAPA website and look them up. They had mine from the warehouse next day. I didn't have to pay any shipping.

So far so good. Bedding them in with my current PFC pads and then will swap over to the matching BruteStop semi-metallic pads.

I just did my wife's 2000 Monte Carlo with the Raybestos PG Plus and Ceramic pads. That is a nice comination for a regular street car. Very smooth and quiet. You can get those rotors for about $75ea.
