Rough idle after start

Hey everyone...before I start to go nuts ..81 starts up quick but for the first min. or so idles real rough( have to play with gas pedal to keep her going) after that runs fine ..my first thought was fuel filter which I changed ,,no luck ....where do I start ??
(350, mild cam, no smog ,true duals no cat.)

My guess would be choke adjustment. Stock carb?

Need to know what carb and if stock or electric choke. Sounds like the choke is opening way to fast.

:ugh Just checked my carb its NOT the correct number ,,its 17077335.looked thru the Black Book not listed as a Corvette Carb !! No idea where its from ...any help??/ :confused

Hello Neal,

I can't lookup the number but is your carb looking like a E4ME carb (look with google). If not, is the ECM in de compartment behind the drivers seat still there and connected to the wiring harness.

Also check the choke pull off diaphragm, it opens the choke slightly when started to prevent an over-rich condition.

Sorry took a while to get back , yes the ECM is hooked up and I checked that the 2 electrical connections on either side of the carb are hot (12V) ...also during the "rough start idle' until it smooths out the "CHOKE" light is on under the speedo....
How do I go about adjusting the choke as suggested earlier?

Look on the net for the tech artikles from Lars. He still has the best way to setup the choke I think
