Hi Doom Driver -
I'll wade in and cast my vote - I have been using silicone grease for years - a little dab'll do 'ya, and it keeps the rubber looking like brand new -
I have never had a problem with it - just rub it on, let it sit a while and then wipe it off. I also have never experience excessive dust and dirt accumulation from using it.
I am sure there is probably some specialized lube out there - but it will likely deplete your wallet much faster than good old silicone grease....
Whatever you use, it is good to do this often overlooked maintenance job a couple times a year - I can tell right away when someone has neglected their rubber strips - the top and hatch creak and crackle when you ride in their cars.
You pays your money and takes your choices.
best regards -
