hello to all! first time user here. i recently read an article somewhere about greasing the posi on a c-3. i own a 74 l-48,and it is making a "rubbing" sound in the rear wheel area. it's more pronounced when making a turn from a dead stop, than when going straight. i'm guessing that when turning one wheel is going faster than the other.anyway it is supposedly a n"easy fix". does anyone have any ideas? i'm not a mechanic, but love to diy. i'd appreciate any advice/tips from someone who's been there. thanks in advance.

Welcome to CAC Mark!

It does sound like the posi clutches are rubbing. I have not done this before, but I understand that if caught soon enough, it is just a minor maintenance issue. Left alone, real damage can occur.

Hopefully someone here who has done this before can tell you more about it.

Again, welcome to CAC!

Post some pics, we would love to see your Vette!

I will try to find out for you.

I will see if I can find something on this problem for you. With all the books I have, there has to be a description of it somewhere. As soon as I find out, I will let you know.

Get the rear nice & hot then change the fluid.
Don’t FORGET two (2) bottles of GM posi additive.
You might have to change it a couple times.
Good luck

Rubbing sound

Hi. Ditto! GM lube, GM additive only. I used after market lube in other Vettes and a "chatter" developed, changed to GM lube/additive, chatter was gone.
