I am breaking traction at the light, getting the ASR slapdown at kickdown rolling 20, and chirping gears into 2nd. Love the free supercharging at 25*

Plus the pavement isn't real sticky. Having fun in the Vette. I declined a stop light drag invite from BB Bigfoot this morning. He would squish me after I beat him.

Driving the car to work is very distracting.

Happy Holidays

I too enjoy running in the cold; however, I noticed that I went through twice as much rubber. Not sure if that was due to the tires spinning more because it was cold and there is less adhesion, or because it is cold, the rubber wears faster. Anyhow... when one tire = $250-$280.... I take it nice and easy now.

Yep you can always get more spin when the tires are cold and hard, and the pavement is cold as ice. It helps to that the incoming air is cooler. However big block is right, tires are to darn expensive these days.

Next time you need tires try tirerack.com They a very good site to buy vette tires and other specialty tires that local dealers tend to mark up 200% or more. I have bought 2 sets from them. 80,000 on the first I got from them and have almost 40K on the ones I am running now with about half tread left on them. Excellent traction in SNOW too.

what brand of tires did you buy and what size.....I need 255/50-16 tires

Tire Rack gave me great service as well. Even with the shipping charges to Europe I saved $200 on a set of Firestone SZ50´s.

IR,
Tire Rack will have any size you need. For my particular set up I use the 245/40ZR 17 I have purchased Pirelli P6000 or P7000 which I got nearly 80K on and they still had another 10K left on them but were very noisy when they became worn. As memory serves me I had about $150.00 in each tire by the time I had them shipped and mounted. The set I now am using, Contenental Conti-Trac (Made In USA) were purchase in May of 2003. I have about 40K on them and looks about half the tread is left. I am very pleased with the ride comfort, very smooth, and quiet compared to the Pirelli and the Goodyear GSC. They do not handle the corners quite as well but for me that is fine, just slow down a little ( instead of 80 in the curves 75). I have about $115.00 per tire after shipping and mounting. They were having a "Sale" on this particular tire and I was looking for my job to "run out" at the time so that is what I bought. I have had NO REGRETS. Plus they were made in the good ole USA. With all the out-sourcing I will Buy American whenever possible. I am now doing consultant work as my job of 25 years in Alabama did go to China.
Merry Christmas To All, Tim
