Once I sandblast the birdcage and fix the rust on it I need to protect it before painting and putting all the panels back on. I have come across these products:

http://www.interstateproducts.com/rustkiller.htm

http://www.therustdoctor.com/index.html

http://www.phoenixpaints.com.au/m_04_01.html

Do you folks have any experience with any of them? It seems like they all double as a primer that can be filled and painted over. Any feedback would be appreciated. BTW, this is a driver and will never be NCRS judged, so appearances take a back seat to rust protection, especially in Florida.

If you have sandblasted the birdcage there is no need for rust conversion primers. The best thing you could do is put a good corrosion resistant primer. The best corrosion resistant primer is dp40 from ppg.Its not cheap but its worth the money.Ospho is a good product for treating rust or maybe an area that is hard to get clean with a blaster.
