Ryan Newman left Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday obviously sore and presumably irritated after flipping violently in a late-race crash near the end of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series' AMP Energy 500.

Newman, who was uninjured, was trapped in the car for almost 15 minutes as safety crews cut him out from exactly the type of wreck he had warned NASCAR against after an amazing crash involving him and Carl Edwards at the same track in April. And after being checked out of the infield hospital, Newman didn't hesitate to get on NASCAR again.

"Drivers used to be about to race each other and respect each other," said Newman. "Guys like Richard Petty, David Pearson and Bobby Allison -- all those guys have always done that. I guess they [NASCAR] just don't think much of us [drivers] anymore."

NASCAR should be able to see by all of the fans dressed as empty seats that really nobody likes the product they put out there now with the COT.

Newman, NASCAR meet in aftermath of 'Dega crash

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The big wreck is over, the crumpled race cars have been loaded up and hauled off and the massive track in north Alabama has gone back into hibernation for another half a year. While the Sprint Cup tour has moved on from Talladega Superspeedway, the aftereffects of last weekend's accident involving Ryan Newman are still being felt.

"From an aerodynamic standpoint, ultimately, our biggest thing is to keep the race cars on the ground," Newman said Friday at Texas Motor Speedway, host of this weekend's NASCAR events. "Crashes have always been a part of racing. There are fans that like that. Sometimes that adds to extra excitement, don't get me wrong. When we can bounce off each other, get the car fixed, go back out and try to win a race, I understand that part of it. Keeping the race cars on the ground is how we keep the drivers, and especially the fans, safe."

NASCAR officials wouldn't discuss details of the meeting, other than to say it was positive.

I stopped watching NASCAR several years ago when it was becoming very apparent that they were more worried about their image than the drivers!!!!!

Get rid of the restrictor plates, get rid of the rear WING and make the bumpers uneven so bump drafting is not possible and let the drivers decided if they want to live or die. The wing is for down force when the car is moving FORWARD, it becomes a true wing when the car is backwards and lifts the rear of the car UP UP UP. How could NASCAR not see that coming with the wing? I do not know how much down froce the wing gives but it is obvious that when car is backwards it gives enough up lift to fly the car. While I am at it make the cars look like a real car, they are all identical except for the sticker grill and headlights. Give the fans REAL STOCK CAR RACING again. Super Speedway racing is like watching the traffic go by on the Interstate BOORING. Let the cream rise to the top again, whoever is fastest wins. Just my 2cents.

I haven't watched in in several years except when it was getting close as to who would win the chase!
this year there will be nothing to watch:thumb:thumb

Add me to the not interested in CRASHCAR list.

Push & shove, bump and bully your way around the track...that's not racing.
