Removing the hood

Brusso,

We had to remove the hood (7 bolts), loosen the radiator support bracket (4 bolts), loosen the shroud (two bolts) and take the top brakets off (4 bolts).
From there you can move the craddle/ radiator support forward and the shroud back towards the engine and after you have taken all the hoses and any trans lines you have, you can take the radiator out. Trust me it is easier to take the hood off and after a while you will get ggod at it.
It is also easier to remove the belt pulley on the water pump, this will make it easier to get the shroud out of the way.
2 1/2 hours to take the radiator out of our old girl!

Have fun

Well the radiator is out!!!!!! Oh the bad news. Did I mention that it "had" a/c? Even after the hood removal, there was still not enough clearance to get the rad out. I still cringe at the thought, but I had to completely remove the condensor to get enough clearance.:cry The system was about emty anyway so I thought the maybe it's not worth fixing. (I'm just trying to make myself feel better ok.) Oh, in case anyone plans on changing the water pump on an a/c equipped car? There is a difference in the water pump housings. Where the bolts go, on the a/c bracket side, is thinner for an a/c equipped car. Using the wrong one will not allow the A.I.R bracket or the a/c bracket to line up with their propper mountings on the engine. So, after going through the agrevation of installing the wrong one, that did it for me. I now own a non a/c 75 vette. I'll keep updating this thread on my progress. Maybe with pics too. Thanks again to all.

if it does matter it is only me and I have installed and taken off the hood myself with no prob it just slips down a little so make sure the is good enough padding as not to hurt the paint but the hood only weighs maybe 20 pounds or so...

Got it all together and it runs with no leaks! Now to put that hood back on.:(

Hood is on and we're cruisin. Can't wait for www.soshorecorvette.com

Just wanted to add a thanks to the forum in helping a new Vette owner out. Either through direct questions or reading other peoples threads. The one big one was when replacing the fuel pump, to remove the short bolt, in the block, and replace it with a longer one to hold the push rod in place. I forget who mentioned it but thanks.
