I recently had a car transported and have found what appears to be a nail gougte in the cleat coat. I do not think this will be detectable by the camera. Is there a safe way to buff it out without producing swirl marks? Otherwise is there a paint expert I can call to evaluate the damage? The car is located near leesburgh, VA.

Regards,
BILL

Depending on how deep it is, you could either try buffing it, ot wet sanding it nd then buffing it. Unless you know what you're doing, I don't recommend learning to wet sand or run a high speed buffer on your own car, especially if it's nice and/or a Vette.

Agreed. I am in the process of finding someone. This evening I am going to wash the area to make sure it is not some kind of dirt.

Obviously, be careful what ever you do. I have a small spot about the size of a pencil erasure on the hood that looks like a simple water stain at best or a sap stain at worst. At anyrate it is into the clear coat.

I've taken the car to a detailer and have had some other people try to posish it out - all to no avial. Now I have an erasure sized spot with a quarter sized halo. :cry

Best of luck

Tom

I would try a product like Zaino Fusion. If you have a Porter Cable ROB use it with a polishing pad and your speed set at 4.5 to 5.5. The reason I like Zaino Fusion (ZPC) so much is because it works so well by hand, PC and Rotary. Menzerna (IP and FPII) and Poorboys (2.5 and 1) are also excellent products and will also work on removing your scratch. If you need to use a product that you have to buy locally I would go with 3m 39009 or 39002 if you need something more abrasive. Worst case scenerio you could sand with 2000 or 3000 grit wet sand paper and then re polish with one of the above.

Can you feel the scratch? I'm located near Leesburg, VA and would be happy to meet you somewhere if you want. I'm no expert, but could provide you with a free opinion. :)
