Yeah, I know, seat belts have been mentioned before. I did a search of the forums though and can't find the information I want.

I don't like the design of my current belts (the ones where you have to connect both belts at the buckle), and I don't feel too safe in them.

Is it possible to replace the current original belts, with ones that are say, designed for a modern car? I may well need extra belt length in order for it to stretch back to the retractors, but is this possible? I would thread the belt through the attachment on the seat also, and put the original buckle on it. I don't like the two belt connects to one idea.

I have been told that the rear seat belts out of a 93 - 03 Camaro/Firebird are a direct bolt in. I bought a set off of eBay the other day and will get back to you as to their "bolt-in" ease. I'm hoping that they'll show up early this week.

aussie, have you considered a 4- point harness? i have a nice system that has one buckle latching system. only drawback is the entry. you have to do some moving to get into them. but i=once in you're quite secure.. i got a pair of black ones on ebay for $75. just a thought
i can send you a picture if you like

my first ebay was a failure.

Found an ebay-decent set of camaro seat belts, starting bid was $25. So nobody bidded until 10 minutes to go. And everyone was doing $1 increments. So I decided, with 10 seconds to go (timed) I would do a $60 bid.

Some smartass did a $100 bid and my net connection at work was dead slow (it routes through australia and back to dc) so I missed out :( I was planning to see if the rears fit, and if they did sell the rest, and if not, sell it all. Now I have to start looking again. What do you think are the chances of finding some sets at a salvage yard?

Ack. I really want retractable normal seatbelts.

Ebay can be a real trip, you never know till its over if you have won, there is even "snipe" software out there which will bid for you at the last instant:L :L

Craig sr, thank you ,again, i will be looking at that sniper progam also. i've lost a few ebay bids too

Hey Thumper, I found this thread on seatbelts and was wondering if this setup worked out for you or not??? I have a chance to do this same mod and I'd like to know how to do it. If anybody else tryed it please chime in.

No problem, my pleasure.

Good luck
