I gotta know I'm not the only C3'r with this problem.
My seat belt retractors have developed an unhealthy attraction for their webbing. I'd like to convince the little buggers to release them more often. I've taken the untis out of the car and found that the retractors are rusted where the belt attaches - but the belts are just fine. Has anyone had any luck fixing them ? I saw an article on how to take them apart, but mine aren't quite the same as a 73 - they are from a 75 and apparently the design has changed - any suggestions would be appreciated

thks !

This is a touchy subject. In a perfect world, I would suggest you seek out replacements. It is a tough call to "repair" them when one day your life, or somebody you care about my depend on them locking in place and holding firm during a collision.

You need to contact Paragon and see if they can help you. There are others out there that repair/replace stock seat belts. I see them at car shows all the time, but can't think of their name right now.

You might also get tricky, and spend an afternoon in the junk yard looking at older GM vehicles. You may find that a belt assembly out of a sunbird, or caprice, or Buick century will work with some minor mods.
