Seat Cushion Switch?

Is it easy to switch both the cushions on standard seats in a '96? The passenger side looks new and I want to even them out. How do you do it?

Why not just move the whole seat from one side to the other?

Wait - are you talking about the bottom seat cushion only? If so, no problem. There is a wire 'latch' on the front of the seat pan that needs to be released. Push down on the front of the seat cushion and then push down on the wire. Once the wire latch is released, the bottom cushion can be pulled up and out. To relatch, push down on the front of the cushion and reach under the seat pan and pull the wire latch forward in front of the seat pan and let up on the cushion. To see and do this easier, raise the seat to a full up position and take a look at the bottom of the pan. You'll have more room for you hand also.

I think the cutouts in the foam are different left /right. Also if sport seats, the stitched "slash" will end up reversed from the seat back slash - if you care.

On the 94 they can be switched as Tuna described

Thanks for backing me up here.

BTW, I remove the lower cushions regularly as this makes vacuuming the area under the seat a lot easier.

No problem. I switched the cushions on my 96 last week.

Thanks fellows

Switching the bottoms took 45 seconds. The little retainer just pops down in front. These are standard seats. Changing the backs is a different story. I only have power driver.

I'll try that later as the foam is brand new on the passenger side. But the bottom cushion feels much firmer and should even the wear on the side bolster. Man they are the most comfortable car seat I have ever had.
