Do I have to remove the complete seat assembly to make repairs to the bottom and back seat cushions? It is an 88 with sport leather seats the bottom cushion just needs to be resewn but the back on drivers side has a small hole in it.

Love my vette and this forum couldn't be better.

There is a clip holding the seat bottom to the frame SuperK. You'll find it in the middle of the front of the seat, simply unclip it and the seat bottom comes free. You'll have to disconnect the wires if you have the sport seats and they sometimes don't give you a whole lot of wire with which to work. Just be patient and it'll work out. ;)

As for the seat backs, I'm told there are clips holding that as well, but I have yet to find them. (I haven't been looking too hard either!) Someone will jump in here again a make this a little clearer for us hopefully.

Good luck.

there are four clips holding the back in....2 of them at the lower part of the head rest and the other ones are near the thickest part of the side pieces...are they the bolsters?
You need to get your fingers underneath the foam and press in until you feel the catch....push the clip towards the middle of the seat then raise it up over the catch....then pull to unhook the other side.Same for the bottom 2. To replace set one side in and press down while sliding it to the edge of the backrest. Now push the foam in place, now press down on the unclipped side and push in at the same time...this well let you slip the clip back over the catch. Then keep downward pressure while removing the pressure from the side. If lucky you might have it locked back in...took me several tries and a 6-pack to do it the first time.

Here is a pic of the clips

Thanks guys it will probably be a couple months before I give it a try but it must be done. Time up here to park for the winter. Thanks again I'll let you know how I make out.:cry :cry
