Is there any way to remove the seats without having to take off the covers, parts, etc. to get to the mounting bolts??? I need to get down underneath the seats to get all the rust that has accumlated in the carpet (having it cleaned by carpet professionals). I now I'll probably have to replace some parts of the seat due to rust, but just not on both. Sorry... help to know it was a 69 convertible!

In my '73 there are 4 bolts holding the seat down at each corner of the frame....3 you can remove from the inside of the car, and 1 is done thru access holes in the frame from under the car.
the rear outer botl is the frame bolt. it helps to remove the tops when its time to life them out. I hope this helps on your '69.
(im sure to be corrected at this point, Eh?;))
Another SE Michigan vette....welcome

On my '68, the seats are mounted with four bolts, one in each corner of the seat tracks. All are removed from inside the car. I'm betting 69s are the same. Fronts are supposed to be covered with a flap of carpet; rears are visible as soon as you slide the seat forward. With the mounting bolts removed, the seats lift up and out. Watch the track feet when you set them down.

:)

Mike's description matches the '72 as well. 4 bolts, all easily accessible from inside the car.

My only problem has been the shoulder harness. Mine still has the plastic fitting and I can't get that through the seatback so more disassembly is required. . . but that's just me. ;)

Heat it with a hair dryer for a minute or two. The plastic will soften and you can slip the fitting off the end of the belt.:beer

Funny little discovery about the seats

Well... I pulled them out, got the covers off and found that the last person "whom installed them" wrote 8/15/84 on the back side of the seat bottom. Needless to say, I'm restoring seats that have been restored once already! ;LOL
