Seat Restoration

I just had Flynn's in LaCrosse, WI do mine. They did an excellent job. The frames were really bent up. They straightened and reinforced them. Cost $1100.00, but they had a lot of welding to do.

I've heard good things about Wilcox. You can find them on ebay. I haven't used them for the seats yet, but have got other interior stuff.

Heard very good things about Al Knoch's. They are always at Bloomington... they do them on site!

You might want to check for references locally before you ship them out. I think the leather covers and other various parts for mine were around $500 - 600 and another $200 a seat to have them recovered. If you have to ship them out, that will be more headache and cost.

Have you thought about doing them yourself. My frames needed some wielding. Otherwise I would have done them myself. As I recall, all you need to purchase is a pair of hog ring pliers.

wilcox will sell you the entire seat (no frame) already assembled (foam and leather put together with the mounting wires installed). all you need to do is mount them to your existing frames. it's cheaper than buying the pieces and doing the assembly. they are a very reputable company with very good product quality. they will even give you a choice of 2" or 4" bolsters. it's certainly worth checking out. if you do a search for "wilcox" here, i put their website address in another inquiry (sorry i just don't have it with me at this computer and it's not something simple like wilcox.com, lol). certainly worth checking out.

I'm very familiar with Wilcox and love doing business with Tommy and Norm. They have been my primary parts house throughout my restoration. Turnaround time is the big question with them though. They are also a complete restoration shop with about 20 vettes in various phases of at any given time. They've been really swamped lately. I'm trying to find someone that has some good turnaround time. As you know... no seats... no drive! I can't do it myself because I simply just do not have the time. Thanks for the leads so far... hope more are to come.

I know this won't help much, but check locally.I found a guy a work that does uhp. on the aircraft we build and does uhp on the the side he is going to charge me only $100 to do both seats.

Thanks all... I think I found a place up in New York. Corvette Parts Headquarters. My main draw to them is that they're selling me a set of original head rests to go with my seats. From I've seen, head rests for a 68 are near impossible to get your hands on. The complete seat restoration is going to be kinda expensive, but not a lot more than anyone else I've called.
