i have a 90 and just tryed to move either seat forward or back and all i got was a chatter from under the seat. i noticed that the control switches on the console both have burn marks around them. the seats will not go forward or back but yet go side to side. any ideas on this one? thanks joe

Sounds like the power seat track is bad. It can work one way, but not another. It has like 3 motors and the plastic gears can break easily and is a common problem. The best way is to order a replacement rebuilt track ~$200 from one of the vette vendors and they do charge a $100 core charge on the track until you send it back.

steve, i looked at it a little last night and i think that the gears could be stripped. what is weird is that it has affected both sides at the same time. if you hold the cable that turns you can get it to move.

You say that when you hold the cable the seat works as designed? Did you check the cable connections to ensure they are tight at each end?

_ken :w

i have to take the seats out in order to see if the cables are tight. my suspicians now are that the plastic gears are stripped. sure is little room in these cars huh? oh, i also found that the hoses to the lumbar are broken so i have two things to fix and test.
thanks joe
