So we all know that the Sledgehammer is the fastest Callaway ever. (well, maybe the SuperSpeedster, but it was never tested) In the Callaway model center here at the CAC, it says the second fastest Callaway was #10 from '89 running a speed of 215 m.p.h. '89 Callaway #10 What I was wondering about it the Top Gun Callaway Corvette that is spoke of at the begining of the Sledgehammer article. That article spoke of the Top Gun running a speed of 231 m.p.h.
The Top Gun Callaway Corvette had run 231 mph
So what I'm wondering is: is the Top Gun Vette really the second fastest Callaway???? And on the subject, was any high speed testing done on the Speedsters???

I believe the top gun car was transformed into the Sledgehammer, but I could be wrong.

I know the speedsters were quoted in the 190 range, but I would guess thats generous. I certainly wouldn't want to pilot an open air car like that to 190mph. Seems like due to the back window it could catch air inside.

Surfnsun, This is what the Sledgehammer article says
The team used an '88 production Callaway as a base, car No. 51, to be exact, and work began in earnest

I am sure the upcoming new owner will test the claims out :upthumbs

I am not certain that the *Top Gun* Vette was entirely "legal" for the roads ;)

That may be the key here - I know it didn't have side mirrors -Sounded mean as HELL too :D

Hope to see # 10 back in the USA soon :m

Ah heck, who really needs side mirrors!

Are you saying that #10 is for sale??? They need to hold for about 18 months so I can buy it!!

Yep, it's for sale, allready a couple of month's now (or maybe longer) in England!
Are the brake/turn light's on this Callaway part of a European transformation of is it ment to be that way?

Greets Peter.
