We bought a bright red 2004 coupe earllier this year and have had a terrific time this summer. Just got back from 10 days in sunny Florida.- Sebring, Daytona, Disney. Drove straight back (913 miles) on the last day. Haven't experienced any problems so far except - I get really nervous when we stay in motels. Try to park as close to the room as possible, set the alarm, etc. but I end up getting up a dozen times a night to check on the car. Anyone have any solutions to this? I envy the Harley guys whi can roll them into the rooms. Also who makes wheel locks for the 2004 ? McGard? part number? GM stopped installing them a few years back and it would be a shame to donate them to some kid 1000 miles from home

Buy a "pedal jack"...it locks the brake and clutch pedals...then get a good fitting cover...put both on each night and sleep like a kitten.

You should be able to remove the fuse from the fuel pump circuit. I've used this on a few vehicles and I would think you could do it on the C5.

Hi Bill -

My best advice - just get on with it. There are so many Vettes out there that yours is not likely to be targeted for theft.

If it is, there is another one waiting to take it's place (you do have insurance, don't you Bill?)

Drive it. Enjoy it. Don't worry about it.

If you must get wheel locks, get McGards and put them on. Again, you likely have the five-spoke OEM rims, and they are not likely to be targeted for theft.

Just drive and enjoy that beauty!

Congrats on the Torch Red vette. Great color...cool car!!

I feel for ya buddy. Been there, done that.

Most of the times that my vette has slept outside a hotel has been because of a car show and there have usually been at least a few hundred or thousand other vettes out there to keep her company! I still am concerned, but check out this link...the vette has not been on this list for as long as I can remember. Hope this makes you feel better...

A kill switch might be a good idea, as they're cheap, and you can hide them just about anywhere.

I think I'd be more worried about getting dinged from the cars parked on either side of it, than the car getting stolen.

The dings or getting the car keyed is much higher on my list of concerns then the car being stolen.
