Zarkonan--
Don't want to hi-jack your post, and I can't seem to email you or message you privately, but if you want to contact me offline, I have a car you might be interested in.

More poof than OOMPH

The 76-82 were cruisers, nice appointments but no real STOCK ponies under the hood. they do look nice I grant you, and you can build a 350 HP engine and make it daily driver..IF you have enough green.

If thats what you want .. then go for it.

Anytime you say.."Hey I would like to do that"

Kiss another grand away..
It's not a bad thing, It's just reality.

HAVE THE CAR INSPECTED BY A COMPETENT VETTE PERSON.. If the seller hesitates for a nano second.. move on down the road.

Do not buy this car from a used car dealer.. go private party. ask for reciepts from all previous work preformed.

It's TOTALY a buyers market now.. so take your pick.. choose wisely.. DO NOT JUMP ON THE FIRST ONE YOU SEE. Wait.. it will come.

If your NOT going to do your own work, just be prepared for more KA-CHING flying out of your wallet. Call the local Chevy place.. see what the hourly rate is..it just goes down from there..but you DO get what you pay for.

At the top on one of the tabs.. there is a Vette check off list ( for potential buyers ) LOOK AT ALL THESE THINGS.. get familiar with the Lingo...ans ask as many questions as your brain can handle, here.

So when you are OUT THERE looking at a potential car.. you wont get SLATHERED in BS!

Like this.

"Yes it did have fuel injection.. it was part of the ZR-2 package. But I had it removed, the parts were made by Evinrude.. and they went out of business."

Or this

" No... Cragar rims DID come from the factory they also were the suppliers for the 8 track / CB combo."

Welcome to heaven...

( or not heaven.. depending on the car)

Thinking about a late moedl C3

The 79 was the last year without GMs computer control system.
I drove a 79 4 speed for 6 years and it was a great car. No problems. No computers to worry about either.

Actually,1980 was the last non-computer Corvette. Unless it was a 305 Calif car.

Happy Motoring.........Dave

Talking about downtime waiting for parts from dealerships!I would go to Ecklers or corvette central or probably most any other and get faster delivery of the parts and for less than the dealerships sells them.
I would also look for a mechanic locally who has worked on Vettes as I'm sure there is at least 1 Vette owner in your area and if you find that mechanic see if you can talk to the Vette owner to see if hes happy with the work thats been done. Some of the mechanics at the dealership are younger than the car your looking at but it will be put in their work bay and they do the work.
Back to the downtime subject.I try to figure out what I need to get done and if its major get it done ASAP but if it can wait abit I get the parts I need ordered and wait for a rainy weekend and work on all the things in that area all at once. For instance I'm going to put in some heat barrier so I know seats come out but will put in new lower shifter boot seal as its easy to get to while I'm that far into it.If you needed to replace tach or something in dash- check to see if you need any bulbs in there as well and do it all at once.If your paying someone to do all that one thing have them do it all at once so they don't charge you twice to pull the dash ect..!
I have almost(Ha Ha)fun tinkering as I do driving my Vette but work on it in sections so it doesn't seem like all I ever do is work on it.Its all just upgrades now anyways but I always seem to find something else I want to tinker with onit.
Have a beer change 4 spark plugs, have abeer and change the other 4 and it doesn't seem like work at all!
Mostly ask any questions on this site and you will get a good honest answer and sound advice!
Thats my story and I'm sticking to it!!
