2004 Corvette Coup
Could you help me with my question. I got my 2004 cp a couple of days ago. The fuel guage goes from full to 3/4 then to empty. I had it back twice in 4 days. They finally agreed to put a new sensor in the right tank. They called me today and said the sensor is in but they broke the fuel line clips at the tank. Now they said they have to order new fuel lines in to get the clips because you can only get the clips with new fuel lines. I have been reading your posts about how they changed fuel lines and sensors in 2003. Do you know of any other people having problems with 2004 fuel sensors. I do not even have 100 miles on this car. Thank You...

Hi there,
if yours is a 2K4, then you have the revised FFS fuel system, and this is all new since mid production 2k3.
I would suggest that there may be something else here.
I have not seen or heard of anything else regarding this condition.
Were there any codes in the system, for 10-PCM????

Fuel sensor

Thanks for the reply. Yes mine is a 2004 ( built on June 6)and I do not know about any codes. The Dealer has not been happy with me because of the fuss I have been causing them. I put a complaint in with GM and a Customer Relationship Manager has been calling me. I have had the car only 12 DAYS and the dealer has had it 4 days. I'm not a happy camper right now. Their so called corvette mechanic told me he has never heard or had any corvettes in with sensor problems. I'm going down there monday with a copy of all the complainants I printed from this forum on fuel gauge problems and stick up his GOOD WRENCH A_ _. Thanks gain for your help.

C4C5 you were right when you suggested there might be another problem. They have the new sensor in and replaced the fuel line clips they broke and now here is what they told me. They said the gauge is working but when the fuel is drawn from one of the 2 tanks the gauge goes back to empty. They told me they can not figure out what the problem is and have been calling Chevrolet engineers for help. Everyone seems to disappear when I stop at the dealership. They have had my car now for 7 days and can not give me a date when it will be fixed. I'm really frustrated now.....

next update on my car

Dealer called me today and said Chevrolet engineers said they do not know what the problem is but to replace both fuel modules. The problem now they say is the parts. They got one but having a problem locating the other do to me having the new fuel system and parts are not in the supply route yet.. Can not give me a time table when it will be in. Now it's 12 days they have had my car. Weekend coming up so this means 4 more days. Went to dealership and now they will only talk to me with 3 managers present but I must admit, I go in there cocked and locked. I hope no one else has this problem with a 2004.

HI there,
I am sorry for the problems with the 04, however, the dealership is only a franchise and following guidelines.
I would suggest that they are talking to technical assistance, and not Corvette engineering.
Please keep us posted, c4c5:hb

Got the car home and found the mechanic chipped
the paint on the bottom of the drivers door. They said the mechanic did that on the lift pods when he opened the door. have to take car back into dealer
on Monday for repair. Said they will have it for 3 or 4 days.
I CAN NOT TAKE MUCH MORE OF THIS. I'M LOOSING IT !!!
Hope the attached picture of chips works.

I feel your pain. I had a similar, though not as lengthy ordeal when I had shocks installed on my '98 coupe. They nicked the CV boots and somehow damaged the emergency brake, and waiting for those parts to arrive and be installed took nearly a week. It was supposed to be an in-and-out-in-just-a-few-hours sort of a process, and I ended up without the car for 6 days. :mad

As frustrated as I know you are, I would recommend against going back in there "cocked and locked" for the paint chip repair. As backwards as it sounds, I'll bet that you get speedier results with more attention to detail if you go in there and tell 'em how much you appreciate their fixing your previous problem and that the paint chip was no big deal (even though it is rightfully a huge deal to you). I know it is easier for me to say than for you to do, but sometimes you just have to "kill 'em with kindness"... :D

Good luck, and enjoy your new ride!
Fred

fop91,

Sorry for your troubles - The dealer should replace your new 2004 C5 with another new 2004 C5 since the mechanic damaged your car. Good luck.

Finally got my car

Dealer called today and said my car was done. two days in the body shop to paint the lower door. i was worried all the way to the dealer about matching the paint. Turns out they did a good job. I went over it with a fine tooth comb while 3 managers watched me. I know they were talking about me but I do not give a sh_t. They have a lot of clear coat overspray on my drivers side rear wheel (polished ). Any one have a good cleaner to recommend. They were going to clean it but I said i'm getting out of here in one piece. I hope it is finally over with problems.:D
