Hello,
I'm wraiting from Switzerland. There are quite a lot of vettes on the road in my country and even a big corvette meeting (300 cars) once a year.I'm also reading every month corvette fever magazine to stay informed.I'm a new member in that forum and I have a question regarding a convertible 71 automatic LS5 454/365HP.
The sequence number next to the engine number (T0621CPJ) is :C11S20765
What is the first letter C doing there ???
It should not be there according my books...
Thanks in advance for your answers.
Yves

That VIN derivative format starting with "C11S" is correct for 1971 Corvettes - here are two other '71 454's stamped in the same format.

Yves, there is much confusion and misinformation in the books on this particular point. As John has pointed out the C is correct in this case. There was a change in the format of the VIN derivative during the model year.
