I recently purchased a 93 coupe. The car seems to run fine but the service engine soon light keeps coming on. I took it into the local chevy dealer and they said no codes were stored in the computer. I jumped the pins myself and just got the 12 start up code flashing continuously. I've disconnected the battery and pulled and replaced the ECM fuse but still get the light after driving a short distance.(less than a mile). Does anyone have an idea as to why the light stays on or how I can clear it? Thanks for your input. Tim

Hmmmmm no codes

Some times the ECM's drive transistor blows it's mind & short's out..but that's usually a go/no go condition.

You might have a running rich condition which clears as you drive it.. or a loose sender or another million things.

YA need a code to know where to start attacking.

In the meantime..just live with it.

I was poking around the fuse box this morning and found two fuses missing from the fusebox inside the dash. One is supposed to be in the 15 spot which the manual indicates is Fuel Pump 2. The other is missing from the 21 spot which is ABS module; transmission clutch control switch; air pump relay;diverter valve. I'm going out tonight to try and find replacements. In the meantime, does anyone know why these might have been removed? The car seems to run fine without them but I'm hoping by reinstalling them I might solve my service engine light problem. Thanks, Tim

I know of one device that can go "open", cause a check engine light, but no code. WAG is check for an open water temperature sending unit.

:duh

That sucks, I would've thought that missing fuses would set off a code or something like that.

Was just told those fuses are only used in the ZR-1 and with options I don't have. That would make sense but I wonder why the owners manual doesn't make note of the distinction? Thanks for the input, Tim
