What soes this mean... This is my first Corvette and man this thing has a lot of gadgets and gizmos...

I checked my tires and everything seams looks fine.. I can't hear any rattles or anything.

Is this a major repair or minor? and do I need the LPTWS sensor??

Thanks :confused

Do you need it? no.

It is probably just a sensor in one of the wheels though. not a tough fix, but the sensors are pretty costly.

I can tell you that when mine starts giving me problems, I am not fixing it... I will just pull the idiot light out

Thanks.... Do I need to remove anything from the wheels or wheel area if I decide to disconnect this feature.

There is a sensor in each wheel mounted with a huge hose clamp. You can leave them in the wheels until you change tires if you like.

You can have the codes pulled and see if the problem is a wheel sensor or the receiver then decide whether to fix it or not. Wheel sensors cost about $150 if you can find them and there are 4 different ones - one for each wheel.

If your car has run-flats, then I recommend that you keep them working. It's really hard to tell if a run-flat is low on air without checking them with a gauge - and - under-inflated run-flats can have heat related problems from driving with too little air just like regular tires can.

Thanks everyone... I had it to the dealer this morning and he reset the idiot light and said if it comes back on its a bad sensor. I think if it does come back on I will remove the light. and at tire change remove the sensors..

thanks again..

I pulled the light on mine when I changed wheels and tires, piece of cake!

Make me an offer on the sensors. I'll try to take them off your hands.

I bought new Z0-6 wheels and took off the factory wheels, but I want to keep all the ogiginal equipment for if and when I sell the car.

Good Luck

A 1996 probably has sensors mounted under the valve stems. Earlier versions were strapped to the wheel. Use a lot of care dismounting the tires as the valve stem mounted sensors are easily destroyed. And they're expensive to replace or very profitable to sell.

The C5 is the first to get valve stem mounted sensors. All the C4 sensors are on big straps.

The C4 sensors are opposite the valve stem and breaking the tire down in the wrong place and break them or the strap or both.

Everything seams to be working for the time being... My plan is to remove the sensors when I change tires next spring. I will then offer them up for sale on the site.. Tuna, I will definetley email you when I take them off.

Thanks everyone...

The LPTWS light is back again.. I did find out that the dealer put wheels from a 93 on the 96 after I asked him to switch tires. I am going to contact him and tell him to put on the 96 wheels. Hopefully the sensors are good on those.

Thanks for the help everyone. If this fails I will be pulling a fuse for now.
