Question: Shaker Hood?

I think i have seen one on line somewhere just cant remember where. i do remember the guy did fab it up.

Actually come to think of it, it was on a thirdgen camaro. sorry.

I was just trying to think of something i could do that would help my car stand out.
It is different than the "average" car, but when i go to a car show i blend in. There is nothing about my car to make it stick out, yet it is modified well beyond stock (missing crossfire and badging).
I was thinking about getting a new hood (don't want to cut a hole in the original) and an air cleaner with a scoop. It would all be reversible, and I'd have something to make my car different (less obnoxious than ground effects or rear louvers, in my opinion).

Uh. Stop going to shows. :) Just kidding. I suppose it's a matter of who is walking past your car at a show. If I attended a show where you car was entered, I would stop and look at it as I would any other Corvettes entered. I'm a Corvette enthusiast and your car would be of interest to me. I might walk right past a Firebird or someone's Fairlane in order to get to your car.

:)

Not exactly a "Shaker Hood" but it does stand out in a crowd :chuckle

Owner Comments: Just one of my old chevys. Just a little different engine. That's a Hampton 8-71 sitting on a LS6 454. I won't bother with all the neat stuff on it.

One our 1981's from the Registry. I couldn't find JHL's 1981 (he did sell it.... JHL homeland is the UK, but he travels the world so I have no idea where he's at now. :L )

Bud

Yeah, the ground effects and spoiler are too much for me.

Believe me, what i'm thinking of is (1) not permanent (2) not that extreme.

When I had intentions of turning my '82 into a bracket-racer, I considered the C3-Stinger hood from Ecklers, with a stripe that matched the interior (Dark Red on my Black exterior), that could've been made functional:

it's still 'Corvette', and stands-out in a crowd, but not-too gaudy.
