Anyone eer seen a vete modified with a shaker style hood ?

Just a though as I will be doing the paint this winter and looking into hood options. Not sure if there is any kit out there or anyone with some experence on try this before.

I am sure if you use a stock hood and cut it to fit the particular style shaker you want.... you could do it. I would use something other than a Trans Am shaker. MOPAR and Ford used a few neat looking ones in the early 70s. They could do what you are looking for. You will have to seriously alter whatever shaker bonnet you purchase so that it will seal up to the hood.

Try it- I'd like to see it. If you are on the east coast, I have one in NC that I'd sell for $100 dollars. Its slightly damaged- a flame through came up and scorched the bottom of the hood. But hey- thats the part you want to cut out and the rest of the hood is just fine- iea bolt holes, no chips in the glass or other issues. I think that is cheaper than a salvage yard. Maybe I am crazy for the price. Oh well.

Thanks for the offer on the hood. But I don have a problem cutting my stock one, as little to nothing else on this car remains origonal.

I am look at the shaker scopp trying to find something lower and wider for the look I would want, i do think the trans am style would fit the car vell well eigher.

On the other hood, Vana list two diffrent modles for some for 68-72, and some that fit 68-82. Does that mean the hoods have to be the same size for all of them between 68-82 ??

You will find that after fitting a shaker to your carb and cutting the bonnet....sorry...hood, that the shaker will be sitting over an inch to one side. All the C3 motors are offset to the right.

" the shaker will be sitting over an inch to one side. All the C3 motors are offset to the right. "

I wonder if that is the reason I have yet to see anyone try this ?

Im really looking for a diffrent then stock look, if anyone has and cool hod pics I would love to see them for some ideas.

I did it and yes the engine is sitting over to one side by almost a couple of inches to clear the steering. You can see some better pictures on my web site not maybe a shaker set-up but it will give you some idea.
