OK, I've been trying to find the correct bracket for the shift cable on my 81. It has a TH350 tranny. The pic shows the 2 brackets I have. The one w/ the square hole (rt) is mounted with the pin inboard facing the trans and is the one I am told is actually the correct one and appears to be similar to the one in the AIM however, when attaching the cable to it, the cable rubs on the trans pan. Looking at pic in AIM it appears there is supposed to be another pin that protrudes outward. If so, where can these be obtained?

oh sheet!!!!!!!

you may have to find another quadra jet that was in an automatic to find that...
I was looking around Carlisle when I was down there a month ago,to no avail...
IF you can find a junk yard(good luck with that!!!!)
or keep an eye on e-bay for that era carbs in the vette parts sections...
good luck...

The pin should be facing outward (away from the tranny). According to ASM the pin is held on by a nut on the back so you should be able to swap it over if you need to.
There is no second pin.

The square hole on the brkt on the rt is the location for another pin. I bought one and installed it but it doesnt align w/ the cable. It's right abt 2" off. I do not see where there is any adjustment to the cable as far as length. IIRC you install cable by placing car in pk and putting tranny in pk and attach cable. I did that and as mentioned, abt 2" off. I guess its always possible I have the wrong cable...

Now that you mention it, when you look at the rectangular hole that's there you can see where there was a pin fitted in the past.
When I check my AIM, I only see the one pin in the rectangular hole where you have a pin missing. I assume there's noting to stop you from moving the pin back to that hole.

The problem w/ using that location is the cable doesnt fit. it's abt 2" too long. I bought a pin for a carb setup and tried it. it fits the hole w/ a few mods but now the cable is too long. I dont see any adjustments in the cable.

One last thought. If you move the cable bracket that attaches to the transmission either forward or backward by one bolt see if this helps. Don't give up you will get there. Walking away for a day helps. I am going to look to see what I have in my collection of goodies. I might have what you need. It might take some time since I have to move a car and a bunch of stuff to get there.

Anyone who pulled there TH350 for a 700R4 or a 2004R transmission swap and replaced there cable would have these parts also. Anybody out there?
