Please help this new member- I recently bought my first Corvette- 1981, and I am in the middle of making her new again. Need help in removing the armrest pad located just behind the shift console. Can someone tell me how it's fastened to the console- before I rip something? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Mike J.

Welcome aboard Mike ;)

As I recall, you will need to remove the side panels from the center tunnel. There are 3 screws per side. One toward the front of the panel, one in the middle and one along side the seats.

Once you have the side panels off you can see how it is connected. Here again I'm running on memory, but I believe there are 4 bolts holding the arm rest on, two tying it to the front of the assy. and two bolts to the tunnel itself.

Best wishes and enjoy the :Steer

Thanks a bunch rare81, i'll look at it again in the morning. Your help is greatly appreciated. mike j
