Shift kit question?

I have a '97 M6 Coupe. I'm thinking of putting a shift kit in it. If I do, will it still automatically position itself at the 3rd/4th position when in neutral?

I'm not sure what you mean about a shift kit. However, aftermarket shifters such as Hurst and B&M have side tension springs to position the shifter at 3-4 while in neutral. Some even have adjustable tension so you can tailor the side tension to your liking.

Thanks for replying. Yeah, I'm thinking of the B&M "short throw" shifter and was just curious about the positioning in neutral. Thanks again!
