I have a 4+3 DN and that push button overdrive. I relocated the overdrive button to the dash board. I tried fixing it, but it kept sticking, and the 4 speed pattern button cracked to peices from pushing it so hard to get'er to come on and off. So i'll get a new knob. I can't get the old one off. anyone know how they come off? do they swist off, pull off? Sucker is really on there.

Once you remove the button by gently prying it loose from it's clip (but you already said it was damaged beyond repair so just yank the button off ;)) there is a wedge of steel that holds the knob in postion relative to the handle. Pull this wedge straight out with a pair of pliers. Then you must unscrew the "T" bar that activates the micro-switch for the overdrive and the knob will unscrew counter-clockwise.

Be sure to count the number of turns it takes to remove the "T-bar" so that you have a starting point from which you can adjust the height of the switch when you reinstall the bar; you want it so that the button is level with the top of the knob.

good deal

thanx alot. i thought that wedge in there had something to do with holding it on there, bu ti didn't want to break it :)
