I need some help shipping factory side exhaust covers ('69). Actually the guy I'm buying them from has the problem. :gap The box needs to be approximately 7ft long and about 8x8" sqaure. He has no idea how to box & ship this awkward size.

Anyone ship these covers previously? Any ideas are welcome.

Thanks
Len

1970 sting ray.

Have the fellow look for a regency hearth dealer local.

I sell the product also. They have these box's that the mantels come in that are like a small coffin they would be perfect for them.

We throw out these wooden crates dailey.the perfect box is for a p95 flat wall mantel

I am sure the dealer would be happy to get rid of them

Ive never shipped side covers but have shipped many large and bulky items. The cheapest way is definitly Greyhound. The only downfall is you will have to pick them up at the bus station.

Seems like four 7 ft planks, a couple of end pieces, and a hammer & nails could be used to make a sturdy box fairly quickly.

Another typ of box that may work is if there is a ice hockey dealer nearby a hockey stick box may work .

I had another idea last night have him go to a home improvement store or ask if he knows a contractor, have him get a couple of the boxes that vinyl siding comes in and cut them down to size.

Try a local Mailbox Etc. I had to ship a lot of stuff once including a Grandmother clock. They have the wrapping material and can ship most anything anywhere.

I bought a set off ebay once. BE CAREFUL OF THE WEIGHT ! I don't think you need a crate made of wood - that could be pretty expensive to ship. Have the guy go by a local Sears store or something similar. They get in appliances in huge boxes. He may have to cut and fold them over (maybe even use 2 boxes - overlapping each other) and pack the covers real good inside and then just tape the crap out of the boxes to keep them together. Mine came from the west coast to the east coast, via the postal service for about $35.00. They may be too big for UPS - but the postal service should be able to handle them.

Just wrap them in bubble wrap. Tape them and ship them. That's how mine were shipped. It's light and it's the smallest dimension for shipping.

They were shipped undamaged in bubble wrap? That's amazing. Whos was the shipper? UPS?

Just wanted to say thanks for all the ideas. The guy shipped them UPS inside a golf bag box they had at one of those u-mail it places. Came out great.

Here's a pic of just the covers. Pipes will need to wait until the BB goes in soon. The camera did some funky thing to the horizontal lines of the covers, made them into Zebra stripes! :L
