Shocked and Loose

I recently purchased my 94 with 87K miles. The front end feels a little "loose" and I was hoping to get some feedback on some front end issues.

First I plan on replacing the shocks. I would like to upgrade the fronts with the Z51 set from Bilstein, I assume they will fit into my non-Z51 shocks place. Does anyone know if I am correct? (there is NO FX-3 adjustable option)

Secondly, I know Ecklers sells a complete front end rebuild kit, but what other parts do I need to concentrate on to get that new car tightness back in my front end?

You may also want to check http://www.p-s-t.com/ they have a complete front end set including tie-rod ends, ball joints and poly bushings at a resonable price.

Does anyone have any experience with the Edelbrock shocks?

I know they are pricey......I mean...hella expensive, but they seem pretty nice.

I just put shocks on my base suspension 94 with 80K on the clock. Here's my experience for what it's worth.

I felt I needed shocks based on the mileage and what to me, felt like a harsh ride. I ran the question by the group here and all agreed the the shocks should be pretty well gone.

I too looked at Edelbrocks and got good feedback from the group but when the best price I could find was around $460 for the set I opted out. My second choice were the the standard replacement Bilsteins. I had a problem installing them ( a defective lower bracket on 1 front shock) and because there were apparently no replacements in the US, the dealer (The Last Detail) offered to replace them with a Z51 spec set. They assured me I would like the results and I did. Since I'm new to the car I don't know what it's supposed to feel like but the difference was amazing. I felt it when I backed down the driveway after I finished the job. The car is much more supple and eats up bumps that used make the car snap a creak (me too) . That side step hop on bumpy curves is gone too.

Insatllation wasn't too bad once you figured out what tools to use and what extraction techniques were needed. I had a few hitches but it went well and was well worth the effort.
