About three weeks ago I totally removed the the brake fluid from the clutch reservoir with a rubber squeeze bulb, totally dry. Without pumping the clutch I tried driving it, and the gears were virtually impossible to change. Finally, after several pedal pumps I got it into gear.
I'm afraid I may have got air into the system. Since then, I have put in a pint of DOT 4 after changing the fluid 5 times, and pumping 21 times with each change. It's still a little difficult to get it into first, and I sense that I have to go all the way to the floor to make it happen.
The Service Manual bleed procedure is a huge job, where you take off the middle exhaust pipe, and the driveline close out panel, before you can get to the bleed valve of the clutch release slave.
I hate to go all of that work if I can do it easier another way, or maybe it's as good as it gets as it is? What is a remote bleeder and how do you put it on?
Yesterday I replaced the Dex III with the new GM manual transmission fluid, the old stuff had 7 years and 48,000 miles on it.
Any thoughts?
