should I pull the body apart?

Well, the question is simple. Is it worth pulling the entire car apart to replace or repair the bircage, or should I just get down to good metal and then rust proof what is left?

That depends on how bad the rust really is. Tearing apart your body to repair a rusty birdcage is a job best left to the experts. If it's just some spot rust, then clean it up, POR 15 it and be done with it.

In most cases, the amount of body tearup required to make major birdcage repairs will cost more than the car is worth by the time the car is put back together and restored to its pre-repair appearance.
