Just spent the last few hours fighting with a set of pipes I bought two weeks ago. The passenger side hits the frame right at the turn in. If this had been the only problem I would probably not be so mad right now. However I had previously sent one of the covers back due to a flaw that should have never left the shop.

Who have you bought from in the past and would buy from again. I'm looking for 2 1/2" pipes and covers, sound is going to be a big factor.. Unlike a lot I want and like it loud. The 2" system I just removed was great loud at idle and WOT and docile at cruise... Thanks in advance guys... Dave..

As for the covers.I purchased mine at corvettes of carlilse 3 or 4 years ago.The vendor and I opened several boxs and carefully excamined each and every inch of the covers.each and every set was slightly blemished from whom ever made them. The vendor was very paitent with me untill I found the best covers out of all the sets he had.But I was able to get an allmost perfect set of reproduction covers.I think only one company makes the covers and all the vendors sell the same product

The pipes I have on my car.I purchased from paroragon reproductions.I am not sure of who made them,But originally I had a set of stahl big tube headers welded into stock side exchaust mufflers.when I replaced the headers with exchaust manifolds and new side exchaust pipes the car got louder then it originally was with the headers on it. So I think I had the original factor pipes on the car and the new reproduction ones are louder.

Good luck Sorry I could not give you any Rock Solid recomendations

I got my 2.5" pipes from Muskegon Brake, who gets them from Allen Exhaust. They were a decent fit and definitely make some noise. At first I thought they were too loud but I have gotten used to them. The three hour ride to Bloomington does require ear protection though.

I wonder if your rh pipe has a shorter "down" section at the front because of the heat riser that came from the factory on these cars. My right side runs a little high because I left my heat riser off (could not find long enough studs). My pipe runs a little close to the idler arm than I would like but is otherwise ok.

My problem was that the long brass nuts that I like to use kept falling off. I eventually replaced them with a double jam nut stainless setup.

John, It's not short in vertical distance but in the horizontal distance from center line to outside the frame. The pipe is hitting the outside of the frame rail. I've got a few things to check on my end and I'm going to look at a buddy's car this weekend to see how it looks. Thanks for the reply's guys. I appreciate it.. Dave.
