'65 Convertable
I'm having a heck of a time deciding how to install some aftermarket side pipes on my '65. They're an old set of Chrome Thrush in excellent condition. They were on a '64/427 many years ago and I really liked them on that car. My problem is how to rubber mount them. It doesn't sound too tough but I just can't settle on a system that I'm totally satified with, keeping them tight to the frame. The stock side pipe hanging system at the rear interfers with the outlet of the side pipes. I'll figure it out, but it's taking a while.
Spent the last couple of days cleaning up the wiring the under hood. Had a no-start but thats all better now.

I use Borla stainless turbos that required making rear rubber hangars - and the design evolved. I ended up modifying a universal muffler shop hangar to make it a lot shorter. They are cheap, sturdy and provide all the basic materials.

Post a picture of the pipes if you can.

Hey Magic,
I want to rubber insulate them, but when it comes to hanging them with rubber, they'd be hanging too low. I think I've devised a way for them to sit on a rubber mounted support. I'm going to let my exhaust guy have a look at my prototype today.

It's been a long time since I have seen Thrush side exhaust. A friend also had these on a '64. Looked pretty nice.

Thanks Tom, they're the old Chrome set, not the aluminum finned ones. They're not correct but I thought they looked great back then, I've dragging them around for years til I got a mid-year. If I don't like 'em I'll go to the Hookers.
