Side pipe polish

Hi, i just bought some turtle wax chrome polish to shine up my headders and side pipes, but i was just thinking if those babys become so hot that just touching it for a milli second gives you a like 3rd degree burn woudnt the wax just burn up on the side pipe.

What do other people use to protect them and shine them up.

Chrome cleaner....

isn't a wax. It cleans and polishes the plating. I used GM chrome cleaner on my '67 with chrome headers/side pipes and they always looked great. I also have used it to keep the semi stacks looking great when I had chrome ones. I never tried to wax them for the same reason you stated. I didn't think it could possibly hold up under the high temps and I cleaned them often enough that I didn't see a need for a protectant on them.
