Mirror got too loose for my comfort. Spent about an hour taking care of the whole thing. Realized the value of the service manual for this job. Take care in pulling the door panel off. First pull out all visible screws and pop off lower door clips. Then pry out cup within the grab portion of the door. Then pry out the actual door lock lever - it snaps onto a thin metal actuator. Then pry out the flood light from the top but carefully. You've just found the hidden treasure behind that - or hidden screw as others have found out. Now, force door lock lever up and over where it belongs to get out the plastic door handle bezel. Door panel comes off - prop it up on something unless you want to mess with the electrical connections. Now the real trick - what the hell tool do you use to get to those nuts. Here is what I did - find a 10mm socket but forget about getting a socket wrench in there. Tie a piece of thin wire that your wife uses to hang pictures in the house - that bendable, plyable, thin but strong wire stuff - you know. Slip it through the socket and around your wrist or fingers because if you drop that socket in the door panel you just earned a demotion from the GM manufacturing line cuz it won't be fun to get out. It doesn't take much to get the socket onto the nuts but a little extra prying umph from a screwdriver gets it onto the nuts. Take a pair of pliers and tighten until your hearts content. Nice thing is you won't get it over tightened because you can't grip the socket all that well with the pliers so don't worry about overtightening. No drips, no spills, no cracks, no worries. Reassemble in time to make it to the Stars game.
